Long held at bay by Champagne Basket Féminin, the Angers women pulled away late in the game thanks to a more aggressive defence.
On the Reims court, the clash between Champagne Basket Féminin and Ufab, this Tuesday 27 October 2026, kept genuine suspense for much of the contest. The Reims players held their opponents at bay for a good part of the encounter, forcing the Angers side to fight for every basket.
The turning point came on defence. More aggressive, the Ufab players increased the pressure on the ball-handler and multiplied their interceptions, allowing them to convert possessions into quick counter-attacks. This defensive intensity gradually tilted the game in their favour.
In the end, Angers won 80 to 62. This success sends the team into the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, an important milestone in a competition where every single-elimination match can produce surprises.
For Reims, the defeat leaves a bitter taste, as the team managed to stay in the game for three quarters. The Champagne club can nevertheless take away the collective solidity displayed against an opponent who, on paper, belongs to a higher level.
This victory confirms the Angers women's ability to raise their level of play in decisive moments. It now gives them a new fixture to come, with the ambition of continuing their run in the national cup.
