The Lavalloises secured their first win of the season against Joué-lès-Tours (54-48), not without suspense.
Finally! After six rounds of struggles, Pays de Laval has found the taste of victory again. This Sunday, November 1st, the Lavalloises defeated Joué-lès-Tours by a score of 54-48, a much-needed boost for a team that was sitting at the bottom of the N3F standings.
However, the match didn't go as planned. Dominant for a large part of the game, the Lavalloises seemed headed for a comfortable victory. But the end of the match turned into a nightmare. Joué-lès-Tours applied pressure, cutting the deficit point by point, creating a nail-biting finish for the fans who came out in large numbers.
This victory is a relief for the team and its coaching staff. Since the start of the season, the Lavalloises had been on a losing streak, sometimes narrowly, sometimes by wider margins. This first success could serve as a turning point for the rest of the championship. In basketball, confidence is a determining factor, and a win, even if hard-fought, can change everything in a group's momentum.
Now they will need to confirm. The N3F is a competitive championship where every match is a battle. The Lavalloises showed they could hold their own in difficult moments. The challenge now is to build on this and string together other positive results. The winter break is approaching, and it would be an early Christmas gift for the club to see their team leave the relegation zone of the standings.
