Saumur's players secured their third consecutive victory across all competitions on Saturday by defeating Chauray (68-58) in the last home game of the year.
For their final home fixture of the calendar year, Saumur's women's team delivered an encouraging victory for their fans. Facing Chauray, a team still searching for their first win of the season in Nationale féminine 1, the players coached by Naidji managed to maintain their positive momentum.
After two consecutive wins the previous weekend, both in the league and the Coupe de France, Saumur entered this match with legitimate confidence. The home side capitalized on this positive streak to control the exchanges and keep Chauray at bay throughout the game.
The final score of 68-58 reflects a match controlled by Saumur's visitors, who showcased their experience and team cohesion. This victory allowed SLB49 to end the calendar year on a positive note in front of their home crowd, before resuming competition in 2027.
For Chauray, this defeat represents another difficult setback. The team remains desperately searching for their first NF1 win this season, which could weigh on the squad's morale in the coming weeks. The winter break may come at just the right time to allow the players to regroup and prepare for the second half of the season.
