After a first season marked by unexpected competition, En Avant Guingamp's right-back Erwin Koffi wants to establish his status against the Saint-Étienne league leaders.
Erwin Koffi approaches the home match against Saint-Étienne with a clear objective: to confirm his rise in form. Arrived at Guingamp last summer, the 31-year-old right-back had to deal with competition that wasn't part of his plans. Yet, he managed to establish himself and now fully occupies the right flank of the Breton team.
This Saturday, October 31st, at 8 PM, the Guingamp players host the Saint-Étienne league leaders in what promises to be a decisive match. For Koffi, the stakes go beyond the simple result: it's about proving he is the right man for the job on his side. "A status is built and maintained," he recalled, aware that every match is an opportunity to consolidate his place.
Koffi's journey at Guingamp hasn't been linear. During his first season, unexpected competition slowed his momentum, forcing him to battle for playing time. Today, he seems to have found the consistency needed to string together performances. Against a solid Saint-Étienne side, he will need to demonstrate defensive rigor and offensive contributions to make an impact on the match.
This match against Saint-Étienne represents a real-life test for Koffi. In good form, he hopes this performance will validate his status and send a strong signal to both his coach and teammates. The road is still long, but the right-back seems ready to take on the challenge.
