Recalibrated as a central defender this season due to injuries in this sector, Lucas Tousart continues to surprise with his ease and reliability.
When circumstances require it, some players reveal unexpected facets of their game. This is precisely what's happening currently for Lucas Tousart at Stade Brestois. A midfielder by training, this 27-year-old player has been forced to change position this season due to injuries that have decimated the Breton team's defensive sector.
Monday, November 2nd, during the match against Lorient, Tousart delivered another convincing performance in this role of last line of defense. His adaptability, both technically and tactically, has once again caught the attention of observers. The player seems to have found a natural balance in this position that was not originally his.
When questioned about his future, the player himself did not hide his enthusiasm. He would like to continue down this path, believing he has developed a taste for this new challenge. A statement that demonstrates a beautiful open-mindedness and a willingness to contribute to the team, regardless of the position.
On the technical staff's side, this makeshift solution could well become a lasting option. Tousart's versatility offers interesting prospects for the rest of the season. Only time will tell if this experience will be a one-off or if it will mark a turning point in this player's career, who is discovering the joys of central defense.
In the meantime, Brest can rely on a player who turns constraints into opportunities.
