After a first half played on even terms, Brest's young talents took control and clearly dominated Caen thanks to the presence of professional players.
Stade Brestois largely dominated Stade Malherbe de Caen in this Challenge Espoirs fixture, running out 3-0 winners. While the opening exchanges were evenly contested, the Finistère side gradually imposed their tempo and technical control on a Caen team that appeared less experienced across the full match.
The difference was largely made by several players drawn from the professional squad, who were brought in to bolster the Brest group for this encounter. Their influence on the game was clear, both in build-up play and in the final third. Among them, N'Guessan stood out by scoring a brace, delivering a notable performance in front of his home supporters.
Tactically, Brest picked up the pace in the decisive zones and exploited the spaces left by their opponents. Their territorial dominance translated into several clear-cut chances, and Caen struggled to establish any real attacking plan throughout the game.
This convincing win confirms the club's solidity in this competition reserved for young players. It also highlights the value, for youth sides, of being able to rely on the experience of seasoned players when the fixture schedule and squad availability allow.
Both teams will now need to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures, with Brest determined to keep this positive momentum going.
