Beaten in their previous outing against HBC Nantes, the South Mayenne players dominated Gonfreville by a score of 31 to 25.
One week after a first misstep against HBC Nantes, Union Sud Mayenne are back on the winning trail in the men's Nationale 1. On Saturday, October 24, the South Mayenne side prevailed on the Gonfreville floor by 31 goals to 25, a result that settles nerves within the club.
The home defeat to Nantes had raised some questions about the team's consistency. The trip to Seine-Maritime was therefore an opportunity to answer on the court, and the squad seized it. The win was never in doubt, with the visitors taking control of the match minute by minute without their opponent ever really getting back into the contest.
This success allows the team to recover a degree of composure, a valuable asset in a Nationale 1 season where every fixture counts. Managing pressure after a setback, particularly one suffered at home, is never simple. Here, the players showed an encouraging capacity to respond, applying a coherent game plan for the bulk of the encounter.
The final score of 31 to 25 reflects a clear superiority by the Mayenne outfit, who maintained a comfortable margin right up to the final whistle. For the coaching staff, it is an encouraging message ahead of the rest of the calendar, which holds further demanding fixtures for the team.
The challenge now is to confirm this momentum in the upcoming engagements. One victory is not enough to erase a poor result, but it restores confidence to a squad that needed to rediscover its certainties. At this stage, the response in Seine-Maritime constitutes a positive signal for the remainder of the season.
