Caen BC suffered a crushing defeat on Antibes' home court (102-77), on Friday, October 30, highlighting deep-seated shortcomings both in attack and defense.
Caen BC experienced a nightmarish evening on Antibes' home court, Friday, October 30. Final score: 102-77. A 25-point defeat that rings out as an unequivocal warning for the Caen side, until now solid despite the season's difficulties.
The problems are not new, but they were exacerbated during this encounter. In attack, the Caen side proved far too predictable, struggling to create opportunities against a well-organized opposition defense. Defensively, the lapse was glaring: Antibes found gaps at will, converting nearly every dangerous possession into points.
The Caen head coach didn't mince his words after the match. It was the first time this season that his team literally threw in the towel during the game, a behavior unacceptable in his eyes. This moral capitulation undoubtedly weighed more heavily than the tactical shortcomings themselves.
In this difficult context, the upcoming arrival of Reggie Johnson, Lee Moore's medical replacement, could bring a breath of fresh air. His return eagerly awaited by the technical staff could help stabilize a fractured backbone, both physically and mentally. The Caen side must now show a different face to turn things around.
